Renowned for its exceptional cuisine, Kalpna has quickly become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors seeking a delightful gastronomic experience.
At Kalpna, the menu is a tribute to rich Indian flavors reimagined for the vegetarian palate. Start with the Tandoori Mix, which features an enticing assortment of vegetables, baby potatoes, and paneer marinated in a spicy yogurt blend and cooked in a tandoor, all for just £5.75. Alternatively, the Galouti Kebab is a must-try; a melt-in-your-mouth delight designed to satisfy any craving, it stands out for its exquisite texture and taste, also priced at £5.75. Then there's the traditional Pakora, vegetables lovingly dipped in spiced batter and deep-fried, served with a tamarind-date sauce for a delightful twist at just £4.95.
The main course delves deeper into the culinary heritage of India. The Mughlai Biryani, laden with rich spices, nuts, and aromatic rose water, is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Complement your meal with specialty rice options like Garlic Rice—sauteed with mustard seeds and garnished with fragrant coriander leaves—available for £4.95, or the exotic Coconut Rice, cooked with coconut milk for a tropical twist, also £4.95. Simple yet flavorful, the Plain Basmati Rice and Pulao Rice serve as perfect accompaniments.
What truly sets Kalpna apart is not just the food; it's the atmosphere. Patrons have praised the friendly and welcoming staff, who seem to make every dining experience memorable. Reviews speak highly of the delightful ambiance, with one customer exclaiming about the “10/10 atmosphere” and exceptional service. Whether you are enjoying a casual meal or a special occasion, the warmth at Kalpna makes you feel right at home.
However, not everything is perfect; a few patrons have noted the inconvenience of cash-only payments, which can be a slight drawback in today's digital age. Yet, as a culinary traveler, the taste and genuine experience might well be worth the cash stroll.
To sum it up, Kalpna presents a fantastic opportunity for anyone craving diverse and delectable vegetarian dishes. From the tantalizing starters to the rich mains, it’s a sanctuary for pure vegan and vegetarian lovers. “ The food here is very delicious Staff and chef are really friendly & welcoming and rank great ambience. Highly recommend ”
“ The food was excellent and the atmosphere 10/10, staff 10/10, prove is so much higher compared to others but overall everything was superb. ”
“ Nice and tasty food for pure vegan and vegetarian lovers. Feel like your home food . Missing Masala tea in UK - you will get it here . ”
“ This is literally the first place that I went to for lunch on Day 1 of my Scotland trip (over the Easter Weekend in Apr-22).. after getting off at Edinburgh Waverley Station. And boy, I tell you it was absolutely worth it! I was travelling with my Mum and Sis, who were visiting from India, and I quickly zeroed down on Kalpna based on online reviews - since we were craving Indian Vegetarian food. And what a BRILLIANT decision!! The restaurant was almost closing at 2 pm, but agreed to take my full order in one-go - as the kitchen was closing. Food was DELICIOUS, and the Manager / Caretaker was friendly and had a long chat with us. However, the biggest BUMMER (which is why I’ve deducted 1 Star!) was that they DIDN’T ACCEPT CARDS. I knew they had a card machine, but were reluctant to entertain any requests. So after a heavy meal, I had to walk around in the sun and search for an ATM to settle my Lunch Bill. Absolutely ridiculous in this day and age, and especially in the UK - where everything is tap-and-pay. I come from India and there are always multiple options for payment in all restaurants. Food is LIP SMACKING, but go with CASH ON HAND! ”
“ Really enjoyed the yummy delectable meals. We had a very nice experience even with the polite staff, beautiful ambience and atmosphere. ”
“ This was a tremendous place for a Thali, one of the best I've ever had, delicious ”
“ This is a paradise for vegans and vegetarians, as well as anyone craving authentic home-cooked Indian food. I keep coming back for the amazing, flavorful dishes and the excellent service. The staff is consistently kind and generous, and the food is top-notch in both quality and taste. ”
“ Went to lunch with my sister. The staff was so attentive and kind! We are vegan, so in addition to the vegan curry options at the lunch buffet, the staff prepared us a supplementary curry to compensate for the one non vegan curry in the buffet we couldn’t eat. They also kept checking in on us and replenishing our water. The price is also so low for such delicious food that is all you can eat! Will definitely be back! ”
